Code of Conduct: Parents
Do not force an unwilling Junior to participate in cricket. |
Remember Juniors are involved in organised sports for their enjoyment, not yours. |
Coaches and Managers of the various teams will not tolerate interference from parents on the sidelines. If interference is continuous, your son will be removed from the team. The coach and the manager are the law when it comes to both practice and matches. |
Encourage your child to play by the rules. |
Teach your child that honest effort is an important as victory. |
Never ridicule or yell at your (or anybody else’s) child for making a mistake or losing a competition. |
Remember that Juniors learn best by example. Equally applaud good play by both teams. |
Do not publicly question the umpire's judgment, and never their honesty. |
Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from Juniors' sporting activities. |
Recognise the value and importance of volunteer coaches. |
If you have a problem with a coach, take it up with him, the team manager, or any committee member. |
Make Juniors aware of the physical fitness demands of cricket and also its life-long value both recreationally and in personal relationships. |
Insist that your child uses protective equipment such as a protector and thigh pad, in order to enjoy cricket with safety. Remember the sun screen! |
Do not pack your child off to cricket. Go along also and volunteer your services. Get involved! |
Your child is watching you - set an example! |
